You're not bothering them

I hear it all the time from agents: “I feel like I’m bothering people.”

Sometimes it’s more specific. “I already followed up twice. I don’t want to be a pest.”

Here’s what I see over and over: most agents follow up once, maybe twice, and then quietly stop. In my experience, most deals happen well after that. The people who win aren’t smarter or more charming. They’re just still showing up when everyone else has gone quiet.

Think about that. Someone raised their hand, and most of the people who could have helped them never said another word.

Now go back to that sentence. Notice the word in it: feel.

Is it possible this isn’t about how they feel? Maybe it’s about how you feel.

A prospect who showed interest and went quiet is almost always busy, not annoyed. Silence after interest is rarely a no.

Try this question on yourself: if someone was a perfect fit and you knew you could help them, how many times would you reach out before deciding you were a bother?

Whatever number you just said, check it against what you actually do. That gap is where your business is hiding.

This week: pick three people who showed interest and went quiet. Reach out to each one with something useful. Not a “just checking in.”

What’s useful depends on who they are and where they are. A seller getting ready to list might need a painter, a pressure washer, or a cleaner they can trust. A buyer might need a lender who actually calls back. That’s something only YOU can give.

So, back to that question: how many times would you reach out to someone you knew you could help? Tell me your number in the comments.
